On this episode of the GIBB COMMANDERS: Fight Or Flight?
Barry jumped out before Circe. “The odds are against us!” he yelled. “You are far more powerful than the two of us could ever hope to be, so why not even the odds a bit?”
“The two of you? There were three.”
“Uh . . . well . . . Robin fled in fear . . . and now it’s just Maurice and myself. So what do you say? Will you play a fair game or will you just kill us without adding any glory to your name?”
Circe thought for a moment. “You have a point, commander. What are you thinking?”
“The house of mirrors. You let us go in ahead of you and hide, then you follow and try to find us. Whoever captures the other first wins. Oh, and you must return to your natural size. Agreed?”
Slowly but surely Circe began to shrink until she was at last her normal size once more. “Agreed,” she said.
With that, Barry and Maurice took off for the house of mirrors.
“What are you thinking?!” asked Maurice. “Are you nuts?!”
“No, just watch and you’ll see. Trust me.”
Just as Barry had said, once inside Maurice did see . . . he saw himself multiplied hundreds of times in the reflecting glass maze! “I now see your plan, Barry, and I must say you are brilliant!”
“Well, we won’t be so brilliant if we get caught standing in the entrance when Circe comes.”
With the boys well inside, Circe entered. “This will be too easy,” she said to herself.
As she began to feel her way through the maze, Barry whispered into Maurice’s ear. “Prepare to sing an enchanting melody.”
“Why? What good will that do?”
“The room is pretty much empty therefore we can get a good echo. The room is also full of mirrors, so if we sing and keep moving, then the changing sound and images will confuse our dear witch and she’ll slip up.”
“And here I thought I was the smart one. What do we sing?”
“What else? Shatterproof.”
Barry the brilliant mind! Oh what a time this has been, but alas we must leave once more and see how Robin is faring with the puzzle box.
